Despite the weather forecast prompting fears of a repeat of the UK rain soak event, we arrived at the City Karting (Go-Kart) Stadium Shah Alam on Friday morning to find a damp, but drying race track.

Everyone was eager to get started, however first there was the safety briefing, which included how to correctly enter and exit the kart! vital information, as there would be at least 3 driver change-overs during the main event, 11 teams of 3 highly skilled drivers, racing at high speeds, inches from the ground and each other, for a total of 60 gruelling minutes.
But first a 20minute practice and qualifying session to determine track position.
Team Mobile Chicane, comprising our Design Engineering Group Manager and Operations Manager Malaysia, took the honours, and had the privilege to lead the rolling start to the race.
Safety lap complete, and the lights hit green and it was everyone racing against the clock, lap after lap, picking out the racing line, apexing the corners, and avoiding the backmarkers.
After 60minutes and 39 laps, one team took the chequered flag; congratulations team High Flyers, a joint effort by our procurement, project and structural departments.
2 Fast 1 Furious, a Joint Malaysian/Sinagapore team a close second, with Rum Monkeys on Wheels claiming the final podium position.
Finally, the driver who recorded the fastest lap is our Fabricator Supervisor.
The time to beat is 1:21.016.
